Self-evaluation for schools
04 April 2011
Method4 has recently delivered
another project in the education sector with the launch of the
School Effectiveness Profile (SEP), a self-evaluation tool for
schools. The system will be used by all schools and local
authorities in Wales and is provided by the Welsh Assembly
Government.
The SEP is an on-line tool
designed to support schools enabling them to ask relevant questions
in their self-evaluation processes with respect to leadership;
improving quality; partnership working and resource management. It
focuses on Key Question 3 of the Estyn Common Inspection Framework
2010 'How good are leadership and management?'
The SEP tool contains a series of
high level statements, from Estyn's minimum expectation for every
school in Wales to what is likely to be seen in the most effective
schools. The statements are deliberately aspirational and
intended to create a common language for discussion within and
between schools. It can be used in conjunction with Core
Datasets to help schools generate evidence for priorities for
school development plans and school self-evaluation reports.
Craig Hughes, Method4 director
said, "the SEP on-line tool will support schools in identifying
their strengths as well as areas where improvement in leadership
can be taken forward, so allowing time and resources to be
allocated with greater focus."
