Method4Exchange offered as managed service
06 September 2008
eLINIA, one of the UK's fastest growing managed service
providers, is to offer on-demand secure file exchange, thanks to a
partnership agreement with information management specialists
Method4.
The managed services provider will offer eLINIA Secure Exchange
as a fully supported service based on Method4's proprietary
Method4Exchange technology, which offers a secure and simple way
for organisations to transfer and share files across the web.
Recent high-profile security breaches at the HMRC, NHS and
others have highlighted the risks involved in using couriers to
transfer sensitive data in hard-copy format. With the data loss
likely to become a criminal offence,
Method4Exchange enables users to upload and download large files
direct from a password-protected portal, over a secure encrypted
SSL connection. Users can be assigned role-based access to files,
offering the flexibility of a secure federated identity model.
James Carnie, technical architect at eLINIA, commented: "Our
partnership with Method4 offers a robust solution to a very real
and widespread problem. Email size limits make sharing large files
difficult, so businesses adopt a variety of practices that can
compromise security.
"Hard-copies lost in transit are just the tip of the iceberg.
It's not uncommon to see individuals using their own web-based
email accounts to transfer files, unaware that data can be easily
intercepted in this way."
Secure Exchange is hosted and managed at eLINIA's highly secure
data-centres in Cardiff, Slough and London. All of eLINIA's
engineers and technicians are accredited at the highest security
levels, including ISO9001, ISO27001 offering peace of mind for
organisations concerned about sharing sensitive information.
Christian Coates, managing director of Method4, said: "Finding a
trusted hosting partner is vital to the success of our on-demand
secure file exchange model. eLINIA's ability to meet the most
stringent government and FSA standards gives us a strong joint
proposition that will support the rapid expansion of our business,
and help us break into new markets."
James Carnie said: "We see strong potential for Secure Exchange
within the financial sector, where we already have significant
experience. We are also talking to media production companies about
using the product to help prevent pirate copies been stolen or
copied in transit."
eLINIA provides secure managed hosting for organisations
including media production company Barcud Derwen, and a number of
global financial organisations. More information about eLINIA's
