ESTnet launch new site using Umbraco
17 June 2011
Created in 2011, the ESTnet is the specialist membership network
of the Welsh Electronics Forum. It will help its members build a
circle of trusted contacts, maximise their connections and open up
their market places by facilitating powerful networks and
exploiting the depth of its sectoral knowledge. As a result, the
performance, profitability and prosperity of the electronics,
software and technology industry will be enhanced.
Method4 recently migrated the Welsh Electronics Forum website
from a bespoke Content Management System (CMS) to Umbraco an open
source CMS. The new website http://www.estnet.uk.net/, is
now running in a hosted environment. The project was delivered on a
constrained budget and timescale.

"Method4 have taken ownership
of this project and guided us throughout the process during a
period of transition from one organisation to a new and very
different one. Their professionalism is very much
appreciated." Chris Young, CEO, ESTnet
The new site development required migrating existing bespoke
functionality across platforms and in doing so, Method4 exploited
the flexibility and power of the Umbraco CMS platform. As a result,
managing dynamic content on the website is intuitive and
user-friendly.

Bespoke features of the site
include a flexible form and management tool which is customisable
by the site administrators and includes support for multiple
instances. A secure area of the website has also been implemented
by integrating ASP.NET with the Umbraco user management Application
Programmers Interface (API). The site meets appropriate
accessibility guidelines.
"This project was a pleasure
to work on. Chris has been actively and positively engaged in
the project and the Umbraco CMS has leant itself well to this rapid
build and deployment project"
Ioan Whittick, Software development consultant,
