Digitally Networked Businesses
30 September 2009
Method4 is currently working with the Department of Enterprise
and Transport (DE&T) on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government
to explore the value of "Digitally Networked Businesses" to the
development of the Welsh economy.
The concept of Digitally Networked Businesses (DNB) has been
developed by DE&T and is based on the "Digital Business
Ecosystems" research from the European Union's Framework 6
programme. DNBs can be thought of as internet-delivered
communities, populated with content and services developed by their
members that support one or more business sectors. A DNB is a
"social networking site for business" and owned by its
contributors.
Method4's involvement in the project is to define the technical
infrastructure and standards of the DNB system for Wales. The
web-enabled system will use open standards and provide future
developers with a stable and robust framework on which to build
applications. The first phase of the project is to develop a
demonstrator system which will showcase a DNB to potential
users.
Craig Hughes, director at Method4 said, "We are pleased to be
working with DE&T on this project, our technical expertise will
provide a sophisticated toolset to help businesses work
together."
