Afon - Helping the flow of information
18 March 2010
Method4 is providing a brand new web-based service for the
Department for the First Minister and Cabinet at the Welsh Assembly
Government. The new service, called Afon, the Welsh word for river,
went live in February. It is already being used to exchange a wide
variety of data with external partners including local authorities,
housing associations and fire services.
Method4 provided systems analysis, development and project
management expertise and will provide ongoing support and
maintenance of the system.
Andrew Kasper, software development consultant commented, "We
used the latest .NET and SQL Server technology to develop a system
which is accessible, secure and browser independent. Our suite of
pre-built components provided the building blocks for the system,
which meant that we could deliver a high quality product within
tight timescales."
Craig Hughes, Method4 director and project manager for Afon
said, "Our use of PRINCE2 coupled with our agile software
development methodology meant that the project was delivered on
time, to budget. Our focus was on understanding the client's
requirements thoroughly and exceeding expectations. Client feedback
confirmed that we achieved this."
